The International Village of Hope (TIVOH) was founded by missionary Carol Herget, who spent over 50 years
in Jamaica and Haiti improving the lives of local children. The International Village of Hope currently supports three Christian Mission Programs in Haiti (two schools and an orphanage). The schools provide a Christian education and one or two meals a day. In addition, a small meal is served following Sunday service.
Quite often this food is the only nourishment these children receive!
The Marechal Christian School was established around 2001 and currently enrolls approximately 280 students.
It is run by a local Haitian pastor and is supported solely by contributions. TIVOH is Marechal's major supporter. TIVOH has provided resources to build classrooms, a kitchen and dining area for the school...and installed a well that supplies clean water to the school and the surrounding neighborhood.
The HOS (Hero’s of Savannah) Christian School was started by the same Haitian pastor in 2005 and receives the entirety of its support from TIVOH.
At present HOS meets in a very small Christian Church which has one classroom. However, land has been procured and a new school building
is under construction. The project is expected to take several years to complete since work is scheduled as funds are available.
The Haiti Orphanage Program supports a small orphanage in the Port Au Prince area supervised by a retired U.S.schoolteacher. The orphanage serves the needs of approximately 20 children ranging in age from newborn to
early teens.
